Bottom Paint

Protection
A boat’s hull is constantly exposed to sunlight, saltwater, freshwater, marine growth, and abrasion. A quality hull paint system helps protect the fiberglass or metal from UV damage, reduce the risk of blistering and water intrusion when the protective coating is maintained and shield the hull from minor scratches and wear.
Performance
A smooth, well-maintained hull moves through the water more efficiently. Less drag can improve fuel economy and maneuverability. A clean hull also reduces marine growth, though this is primarily the job of bottom paint below the waterline.

Bottom paint usually requires repainting every 2–3 years, depending on water conditions, and how often the boat is used.
